My delivery attempt failed – what happens next?
If your courier attempted to deliver your order but was unsuccessful, they will usually try again or provide details on how to arrange redelivery. This article explains what to expect after a failed delivery and what actions you may need to take.
What should I do after a failed delivery?
Start by checking your tracking link in the shipping confirmation email. It should show:
-
The date and time of the attempted delivery
-
Whether a second attempt will be made automatically
-
If the parcel was taken to a collection point or depot
Couriers will often leave a note or update the tracking with instructions on what to do next.
What happens next depends on the courier:
DPD
-
Will usually attempt delivery again the next working day
-
You can use the DPD tracking link to reschedule or select an alternative delivery option
An Post
-
May attempt delivery again or leave the parcel at a local delivery office for collection
-
Instructions will be included in your tracking update or delivery notice
Wheels We Deliver (Dublin Same Day or Nominated Day)
-
You’ll need to contact the number provided in your delivery SMS to arrange redelivery
DHL (Luxury Boutique Orders)
-
Will typically attempt delivery again or contact you directly to reschedule
-
You can manage your delivery via the DHL tracking link in your email
What if I don’t take action?
If no further action is taken, the parcel may be:
-
Returned to the courier depot or sorting centre
-
Returned to us after a set period of time (varies by courier)
-
Refunded if it cannot be delivered after multiple attempts
